Freelancing: six months on
Friday, 07 May 2010
Today is a special day — I've been freelancing for exactly 6 months.

So it's time to take stock, see what I've achieved, and make some goals for the next 6 months.
When I left Proctor & Stevenson, I wanted to be able to work an a greater variety of projects, for lots of different clients and agencies.
I've done that — here are some of the site's I've worked on since going freelance:
- Ecocetera for Design 146
- Maggie Bolt Associates for Thirteen
- Wake Up Walk Out for BeThatChange
- Bristol Creatives
- Protechnic for Point Creative Design
- Concept Handtufting for Design 146
- Monkey Mountain redesign
- Mustard Jobs
Of those, four are Drupal sites, three are WordPress sites, and one is a CakePHP site. Not bad going for six months, I think.
In addition to websites, I've also done lots of HTML email development (mostly in Campaign Monitor).
So what's next?
Some goals for the next six months:
- Stay ahead of the curve with Drupal 7
- Do some ASP.NET and Flash work
- Use distributed source control (e.g., Git, Mercurial)
- Promote myself a little better
- Improve this site
- …
- Profit!
And?
Thank you to everyone who has kept me gainfully employed!
